Description:

Trinka is an approximately 13 year old, 11.2hh, bay roan varnished, appaloosa type pony mare. This lovely little pony embodies all the ideals we wish for in a pony and so rarely find. She is patient, kind, gentle, tolerant, willing and sweet. She is quiet, polite and well mannered. She leads nicely, ties nicely, jumps easily into and out of a trailer, stands quietly for the farrier and seems to enjoy grooming. She yields to pressure on her fore and hind quarters, and knows all her ground work. She is super gentle about taking treats and is very careful not to bite you. Trinka is good with other horses and seems to be especially fond of foals. She doesn't seem to particularly care for the company of dogs or goats, but is good about tolerating their presence. She does not appear to be bothered by cars, trucks, atvs, lawn mowers, etc. She is fully up to date with all her vet and farrier work. She is sound and healthy. I do not believe that she is currently trained to ride or drive, however she has shown no complaint to having a saddle and rider put on her back and led around. As easy going and willing as she is, I don't think it would take much to train her.

History:

Trinka's history is a bit of a mystery, but we do know that for the last three years she has belonged to a Hispanic man who was attempting to breed "mini-Andalusians". In April 2015 she had just weaned a colt (the colt was kept by the breeder) when she, along with her two year old filly, ended up at the feedlot together. Her filly was about double her size, but Trinka was still very protective of her. It was heartbreaking to see this pint-sized mare desperately protecting a filly twice her size in the middle of a feedlot. As it happened both the mare and filly were rescued from the feedlot by different people on the same day and they got to share a trailer ride to safety before having to part.
